The research team at the J.G. Mendel Science Station on James Ross Island continued to monitor the climate and the state of polar geo- and ecosystems, long-frozen ground, de-ice, rivers and lakes. Another long-term project is research on stress and its impact on the physical health of workers in polar regions, in which the University Hospital Ostrava is involved. "Antarctica is a precursor to space," said Daniel Nývlt, adding that the medical team is in contact with Ales Svoboda from the European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut backup team.
